You're looking at a super rare (only 100 were made) signed and numbered white, fuchia and pink cased glass table lamp by Murano Master LINO TAGLIAPIETRA (Effetre International) for Oggetti. The base of the lamp cites 1982 as the year of manufacture, and while a bit hard to read, it looks as though this piece was the 78th of 100 to be produced.
The first thing you'll notice about this handmade work of art is the extraordinary craftmanship. While the design is deceiving in its simplicity, its construction is technically challenging: Note how the fine walls of the vase are composed of at least three thin layers of glass--lattimo (opaque white 'milk glass', the clear glass coating, and the colored glass interior). And how the fuchia "ribbon" is in fact a separate piece of glass that was fused onto the body of the lamp.
Though the lamp lights on and appears completely unproblematic, the wiring is over 35 years old and therefore I make no representations as to its safety and would in fact recommend rewiring.
