Amongst Wayne Husted's last designs for Blenko before he left in 1963 was the 6212 footed decanter, and it was so incredibly popular, it remained in production through the remainder of the 1960s AND the 1970s! (While the original flame stopper was changed to a ground teardrop stopper in 1970, the rest of the decanter and its model number remained the same.) In fact, the 6212 decanter is probably the most widely available design of the mid-century period. Particularly in Tangerine and Turquoise, colors that were produced throughout the 6212 decanter's nearly 20 year run. It's also fairly common to see the 6212 in Olive Green. After that, color frequencies decline dramatically as the other colors available during the 6212 production period had much more limited runs. For example, the 6212 was produced in Jonquil, Sea Green, and Honey for only three out of 18 years, and in Peacock for only two years. Amethyst and Plum were one year-only colors for the 6212 decanters, and over my 13 years of collecting Blenko, I can still count how many in Peacock and purples I've come across on one hand.
This should give you some indication how ridiculously RARE this gorgeous #6212 decanter in 1967-ONLY PLUM is. It's pretty much a unicorn! Moreover, the production values here are very high (I see one significant bubble only--and its in the bottom of the stopper). Note the exquisite symmetry in this piece, as well as the beautifully bulbous flame stopper. There's some base wear on the foot to be sure, and some light mineral deposits or condensation marks toward the bottom of the decanter—although given the deep rich weep-worthy purple color, you'll never see it unless examining it under very strong direct light.
One of Blenko's most graceful and best-loved designs in one of the rarest and most stunningly beautiful colors... Take a moment, breathe, and then grab it before someone else does!

GLASSpheme loves custom orders! But how do we 'customize' vintage glass? Simple. We love glass and we love our customers--and there are many ways we can help!
1) Volume discounts: Let's say there are several pieces you MUST have. Let me know, and I'll send you our very best price for the lot.
2) Custom displays: Say you have a special place in your home that SCREAMS for a glass display. Send me a photo of the space, your budget, and the accent colors for your room, and we'll send you photographs of possible groupings and our special pricing for the lot.
3) Tell us what groupings you have in mind, and we'll photograph them together for you so you can see how they'll look together.
What could be better than giving a gorgeous piece of vintage glass as a gift? (Aside from getting one, that is.) Glass is beautiful and functional--mostly! Consider a super mod biomorphic bowl or cased glass jar for a vanity or dresser, a platter/centerpiece for fruit on a countertop, or a vase for cut flowers. Not only does vintage glass bring exquisite delight to the most mundane of household functions (you should see our soap dishes), but our beauties increase in value over time. Send us a note telling us your purchase is a gift, and we will send it along with your personalized gift card, colorful tissue paper and a bow. (You alone will receive the receipt by email.)
GLASSpheme ships your purchase on the very next business day, but we're flexible too! If you're going away on vacation or have a special date you'd like your gift to arrive, send us a note, and we'll time our shipping for you!
Simple! Join the GLASSpheme mailing list! Paste this link in your browser, send us your email address, and VOILA--you'll be among the first to know when your favorite piece of glass is on sale, or when we're offering coupons.
