BLENKO's #6427 bottle vase, designed by Joel Myers for the 1964 Blenko catalog, in rare and highly coveted PEACOCK, is seriously MOD and a serious STUNNER! While this 24" tall lean vase, one of Myers' greatest hits, was produced for five years, finding it in Peacock is really HARD! Peacock was produced only in 1965 and 1966, and of the 38 #6427 vases that sold at online auction over the last decade (according to Worthpoint), exactly ZERO of them were in this most magnificent color.
The depth and richness of this Peacock disguises one of the coolest features of this vase--its heavily cased base. Photo #4 shows it next to one of our tangerine pieces in this design to help you visualise the heavy base casing. And photo #3 shows it in a Blenko trio, just to increase your heart rate a bit more. The base has also been sheared to insure this magnficent piece stands straight and tall. I can't find any imperfections in this beauty--very light base wear and no notable scratches, scuffs, bubbles, etc. For the life of me, I can't make out what the interior situation is--even held up to bright direct light, this color is too dark and the glass is too thick to make anything out. Frankly, even if it was a mess of mineral deposits--it's PEACOCK. It just doesn't matter!
